Cara Lynn Shultz is the senior social editor for PEOPLE.com, overseeing and producing editorial content for all the brand’s social channels, which boast more than 11 million followers. Shultz has more than 15 years experience in digital and print publishing, and is the author of the YA series Spellbound and The Dark World. Her work has appeared in Teen People, Stuff, Alternative Press, The Guardian UK, and countless posts on Facebook (Facebook.com/CaraLShultz) and Twitter (@CaraLynnShultz).

Univision’s SVP & General Manager of Social Media David Beck joins the Real-Time Academy!

Congratulations to David Beck on becoming the newest member of the Shorty Awards Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences!

Meet David!

David Beck is the Head of Social Media at Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America. He is responsible for designing, building and managing an enterprise social media organization accountable for delivering and monetizing innovative Social Media, Social TV, and Second Screen efforts across TV, digital video, mobile, radio, and live events platforms. 

His team operates across content verticals including Entertainment, News, and Sports together earned eleven Social Media awards in 2013. Mr. Beck was the recipient of the 2013 Latin Social TV Marketer of the Year award.  Beck joined Univision in 2009, and most recently as VP and a founding member of the Office of the CEO. 

Prior to Univision, he was with Bain & Company where he worked with Fortune 100 Companies and top tier Private Equity firms on growth strategy and turn-around/change management.  He received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and his BA from Tufts University.

And the winners of the 6th Annual Shorty Awards are…

Thank you all for tuning in to the 6th Annual Shorty Awards! This was a year where comedy met social media.

Big winners this year include #BatKid, Jerry Seinfeld, Virgin America Remixes the Safety Video, Retta, and Will Ferrell.

Host Natasha Leggero hilariously kicked the night off as she explained new social media apps by putting them into layman’s terms.  The 6th Annual Shorty Awards were star-studded with the following presenters: Miss USA Erin BradyMiss Teen USARettaAndrew W.K., H Jon BenjaminMatt WalshGilbert GottfriedJulie KlausnerMoshe Kasher, Tumblr founder David Karp, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and husband-and-wife musical duo, Us charmed the audience with their television theme song mashup performance.
