Social media’s not just for kids: honoring #moms and #dads

Even your #mom and #dad are on social media now. For this year’s Shorty Awards (voting begins this Monday, January 7th) we’re launching an official #KeepGoodGoing category with New York Life! The #KeepGoodGoing award will be presented to a #Mom or Dad who is passionate about their family, helps others, and encourages families to do the same through social media. Here’s how you can get ready to honor these inspirational #Moms and #Dads!
1. Let your followers know about the #KeepGoodGoing category so they can nominate you or a Mom or Dad you know. Click here to tweet about the #KeepGoodGoing category.
2. Prepare a campaign video to make a splash when voting opens: If you are a #Mom or #Dad, prepare by making a 15-30 second campaign video on why you or another #Mom or #Dad should be nominated in January. Here’s an example of one from How I Met Your Mother.
3. Blog about the #KeepGoodGoing award to spread the word about nominations in January: Create a blog post letting everyone know that on January 7th, they should nominate you or a Mom or Dad by going to ShortyAwards.com and tweeting with the words “I nominate @TwitterUser for a Shorty Award in #KeepGoodGoing because…” and be sure to add a reason. To view the Rules and directions on how to easily tweet a nomination when voting opens on January 7th, please click here. Help a #Mom or #Dad join Conan O’Brien, Ricky Gervais and many more as a Shorty winner!
